OLOROSO SELECT CASK INDIAN SINGLE MALT WHISKY

A special edition of Indian single malt from the sunny Goan coasts, the Oloroso is a sensational explosion of incredible flavours. With dark mahogany hues, this exquisite expression presents an aromatic tapestry of sherry influenced fragrances of peach and apricot with a light note of molassess and blood orange. Sublimely finished in Oloroso casks, its soft flavours are filed with a nutty chocolate and Melton Hunt cake. The long finish is intense and sweet with delicious heavy spices imbibed from the Oloroso casks and melded with a dash of coffee mocha and sumptuous dark chocolate.

Nose:

Peach, apricot and light notes of molassess and blood orange.

Taste:

Soft and sweet, with nutty chocolate and Melton Hunt cake.

Finish:

Long, intense and sweet with delicious heavy spices imbibed from the Oloroso casks, a dash of coffee mocha and sumptuous dark chocolate.

Balance:

An intense and a complex single malt with a sensational explosion of incredible flavours.

Colour:

Dark Mahogany.

Layers of goodness

Hands down, amazing whisky... You can spend hours and hours with all the layers of goodness both on the nose and on the palate. It was almost impossible to keep up with the aromas and flavors popping up one after another while I was trying to scribble down the notes. It's like watching a rapid slide show of images of references and memories. I know that it carries a pretty steep price tag but if you ever decide to blow $200 on a bottle of whisky you should consider yourself damn lucky if you can score something half as good as this.

The exquisite, almost ruby-red colour reflects the impact of first fill sherry cask. It is hands down the best sherry cask-finished whisky at this price point and amongst the best expressions of Paul John.

It is amazing to see how well the sherry red fruits has been built into the malt. It gives an extra dimension, smooths the edges of the spirit with an elegant touch. The spice brings intensity but the heat is nicely tamed. Nice flavours, composed with great complexity. Remarkable dram!
